Please Know, The Guests ARE Coming

2026

Installation In situ - 27/05/26 - 27/06/26
Private View 17/06/26
Dyson Building, Battersea, London
300 x 200 x 150 cm

‘Please Know, The Guests ARE Coming,’ as a room installation combines two free-standing large-scale image sculptures produced using a self-discovered method of image application, manipulation and scouring during the MA Print program in 2026. ‘Garage/Boiler cupboard,’ (100 x 70 x 30 cm) and ‘Living Room,’ (150 x 70 x 100 cm).

The image-objects included are composed of inkjet prints adhered to discarded and repurposed advertising foam board panels. This large-scale sculptural method emerged after experimenting with foam board for book covers for the publication ‘D0_0R.’ Print as a practice exists at the intersection between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional image production. Compiled flat prints can become books; these works return to this familiar but still relevant question, especially in a time of decline in physical press production and physical media consumption.Depicted in both sculptures are domestic household comforts, creating an illusion of habitable space. The title announces to the viewer that this is a space that is preparing itself to expect guests, however all comforts are unsettling and unusable, ready to be rolled up and removed at short notice, when the moment of event has passed. In addition to referencing personal experience of family uprooting this makes reference to the growing housing crisis in London, and the unstable state of comfort and relation to a home throughout the city and wider UK.

Along wall/floor margins the works ‘IONIC COLUMN (CCTV),’ ‘Library of Offcuts (Radiator)’  and the publication ‘D0_0R’ are additionally presented.
The wall-based work ‘Narrow Ledge’ completes the installation.
